The original photo was taken on a retreat near a lake. I found this boat here in the middle of the woods, filled mostly with water. Naturally, I decided that it was my duty as an engineering student to get that boat out on the lake. I used the #1 repair tool of all time, duct tape, to patch the hole, and I then borrowed a Zippo lighter to make sure it would stay there. The boat floated.
I left that lakeside inspired, and naturally when I came home, I decided to try this with whatever I could find around the house. An old metal wheelbarrow looked promising. I used duct tape and twine to lash as many milk jugs to the bottom of my wheelbarrow as I could round up, and I then proceeded to tie a rope around my little brother's waist, and allow him to test my new watercraft out on the pond. It worked fine for a moment or two, but then somehow my little brother went one way and the boat went another, and he came out of the water dripping wet in the 50-degree weather.
Needless to say, the design still needs some work, and people willing to test my latest ideas are hard to find. Yes, is a true story.
The photo is mine, and was edited in Macromedia Fireworks. Resolution: 1250x950
