My body, bloody, battered,
My clothing, torn and tattered,
Pain throbs through all my limbs.
My mind is wrathful, raging,
Against those, sneaking, thieving,
Who left me here to die.
All those I admired,
Their approval I desired,
Just look down and pass me by.
Even the sacred priests,
Only glances then he leaves,
As my senses grow more dim.
Then came a man I hated,
Someone we couldnt stand,
His people were all impurities,
To our promised land,
Half-breed
How dare he come to laugh, to watch me die!
If he comes too close Ill hit,
Weakly in his face Ill spit,
And hopefully after this with dignity lie.
But then, as he saw me,
He drops the reigns of his donkey,
The very man I hated was drawing nigh
I awoke in an inn, still reeling,
But tended, bandaged, healing,
From that hated strangers hand.
In spite of hate he took me,
With his own animal brought me,
Back to my own land.
Many loves are forbidden,
But the foremost, it is hidden,
But this Samaritan has made me see,
The rarest forbidden love;
love for his enemy.
